MLK Jr. Day of Service – Monday, January 20, 2025

Our signature event is our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. This is a unique opportunity to work side by side with those of other faiths and cultures to benefit our local community. We are planning many family-friendly projects, which are both meaningful and rewarding.

These projects include preparing soup mixes and a BBQ for shelter residents, working on school campus improvements and gardening, assembling care kits, knitting baby hats, decorating pillow cases, tying fleece blankets, making t-shirt grocery bags, sewing stuffed animals for police and firefighters to distribute, making paracord bracelets for military personnel, creating animal beds and toys, putting together science kits, cleaning up local parks, and singing for residents in senior centers.

If you are interested in learning more or getting involved, please complete the contact form at the bottom of the page.

We are collecting teddy bears for
The At Risk Youth Foundation.

  • Huggable, cannot be a sitting bear
  • No accessories or clothes
  • And of course, cute!

Volunteers at Congregation Beth Jacob in Redwood City will assemble care baskets packed with kitchenware and household cleaning supplies for over 70 families living at LifeMoves shelters in Redwood City, San Mateo, and Menlo Park. Our gifts will assist them in transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing, and we need lots of generous support to make this happen!

To donate supplies for this project click here to sign up and drop off items by January 14. Or to contribute funds for the supplies, please make a donation here and we’ll do the shopping. In the form select “Social Action (Tikkun Olam)” as the donation Type and in the Payment Notes box please write “MLK Day”.
